Dr Alicia Megia-Fernandez

Dr AliciaMegia-Fernandez obtained her PhD in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Granada (Spain) under the supervision of Professor Santoyo-González. During this time she worked in a broad range of novel applications for vinylsulfone compounds, from labelling, immobilisation, transfection and development of heterogeneous catalysts.

She has been awarded with several prizes, Extraordinary Award for Excellence in BSc (Chemistry, University of Granada), Mention in National Awards for BSc Chemistry (Spanish Ministry Education and Science) and PhD Special Prize Award (University of Granada).

After obtaining the PhD, she received a Ramon Areces Postdoctoral Fellowship to join the Bradley Group at the University of Edinburgh in October 2012. She then continued her research there after being awarded a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship, where she developed several smartprobes to detect fibroproliferation in the lung.

In October 2015 she joined Proteus in continuation with her previous project to prepare GMP grade molecular imaging Smartprobes to be used in clinical trials.
