Helen Parker

Helen received her MPhys from the University of Southampton in 2015 and joined the Proteus team in the autumn of the same year.

Working as a member of the Proteus research group, which aims to develop minimally invasive fibre based optical imaging of pathologies in the distal lung at the bedside, allows Helen the exciting opportunity to apply optical fibre physics to an unmet clinical need.

Helen’s research focusses on improving the optics of a widefield fibred microendoscopy imaging system, which utilises dual light emitting diodes (LEDs) to illuminate lung tissue and induce fluorescence in targeted fluorescent molecules. This results in disease specific, wide-field multiplexed molecular imaging.
