Professor Stephen McLaughlin is Head of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University.

His work in signal processing and its application to biomedical systems has been used in novel biomedical imaging applications.

Signal processing enables the generation, transformation, extraction, and interpretation of information from signals. He has particular interest in extracting important information from multiple, noisy implanted sensors and currently leads an EPSRC Platform Grant on Sensor Signal Processing.

Proteus will provide Steve with a large amount of noisy data, and he will use his valuable expertise to analyse that data and optimise the images and information for use by clinicians.
