Professor Rory Duncan

“Clearly biologists speak a different language to physicists but within Proteus we work very hard to break down barriers between traditional disciplines in order to answer important questions.”

Rory Duncan is Professor of Biophysics at Heriot-Watt University and is also the Head of the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering (IB3).

Rory has a very strong background in quantitative fluorescence live cell imaging, spectroscopy and biophysics and works within IB3 to address fundamental life science questions and develop novel imaging and data analysis tools.

The Proteus project provides an ideal opportunity for Rory to focus his work to address the challenges of developing sensing techniques within biological tissue in vivo.
