Professor Gerard L. Coté
Professor Gerard Coté is Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University, and holds the Charles H. and Bettye Barclay Professorship in Engineering.
He is Director of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station’s Center for Remote Healthcare Technology, and directs the Optical Biosensing Laboratory. His primary research interests include the use of optics for medical diagnostics and biomedical sensing.
Prof. Coté is a Fellow of four societies; the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), and the international Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).
He is also the co-founder of three medical device companies (BioTex, Visualase, BasePair BioTechnologies).
